Young Wirters

CLARKSBURG — Congratulations to the talented students from Harrison County who have been named winners in the 2025 West Virginia Young Writers Contest! These students have advanced to the state-level competition, where they will compete against other young writers from across West Virginia. The results of the state contest have not yet been announced.

The following students earned top honors in their respective grade categories:

  • Grades 1-2: Jeweliana Davis, St. Mary’s Grade School (Teacher: Christine Monell)

  • Grades 3-4: Leila Wade, Johnson Elementary School (Teacher: Marylou Smith)

  • Grades 5-6: Colby Watson, South Harrison Middle School (Teacher: Jessica Reed)

  • Grades 7-8: Camryn Lowther, South Harrison Middle School (Teacher: Sarah Totten)

  • Grades 9-10: Joanna Dong, Bridgeport High School (Teacher: Amy Lohmann)

  • Grades 11-12: Isabella Hoops, Lincoln High School (Teacher: Kerri Childs)
