Harrison County Schools has established attendance zones within the county to designate schools within the district that resident students typically attend. If an eligible elementary, middle, or high school student would like to apply for enrollment in a school outside of his or her established attendance zone, they may do so on the InCounty Transfer Form. This form will need to be presented to the principal at the home school, the receiving school, and then Superintendent of Harrison County Schools for final approval. This approval will be based on grade level capacity and existing programs and services available. The critical need shortage policy will also be reviewed to determine if appropriate staffing is available in the requested grade, program, service, or content area.
Any nonresident student may apply to attend Harrison County Schools by filling out the application at the Harrison County Board of Education at 443 West Main Street, Clarksburg, WV 26301. The Open Enrollment period is from March 1 through March 31 and case-by-case- applications will be taken during the academic year as long as the requirements are met and that student has not previously transferred within the same school year. Approval will be based on grade level capacity and existing programs and services available. The critical need shortage policy will also be reviewed to determine if appropriate staffing is available in the requested grade, program, service, or content area.
Any aggrieved person may appeal a transfer or denial of transfer to the county board of education.
