Morgantown (September, 22nd 2022) – The South Harrison FFA Nursery/Landscape Team competed in the State Nursery/Landscape Evaluation Competition at the West Virginia University Evansdale Greenhouses on Thursday.
The West Virginia FFA Nursery/Landscape Career Development Event is conducted to promote career interest, encourage proficiency development and recognize excellence in participants of the event which includes all aspects of the industry to produce, market, utilize and maintain landscape plants (woody and herbaceous plants and turf grasses), as well as related production and landscaping products, equipment and services including design.
South Harrison FFA members, Bennett Luo received high honors and Olivia Marshall placed 3rd individually, other members were Cierra Haught and Sean Bell. The team will represent West Virginia at the National Contest in Indianapolis, Indiana next Fall. Additionally, The Livestock Judging Team placed 5th out of 27 teams with team members Michael Radcliff, Spencer Nolan, Taylor Smith, Hope Woods, and Ashley Martin. The Meats Evaluation Team placed 8th with team members Emma Hitt, Luke Given, Josie McVicker, and Spencer Nolan. Members Mahaliegh Mearns and Makenna Post Competed in the Poultry Judging with Mearns achieving 11th place honors individually.
