Lincoln High School DECA members attending the WV DECA Career Development Conference

SHINNSTON - Lincoln High School's DECA chapter has made a commendable showing at the West Virginia DECA Career Development Conference, held on March 3rd and 4th, 2024, at the Charleston Marriott Town Center Hotel and Conference Center. The dedicated students, under the expert guidance of Chapter advisors Ms. Savannah Hoffman and Mrs. Julie Yearego, have showcased their prowess in competitive events and embodied the highest standards of professionalism.

DECA members took home top honors in several competitive categories. Sierra Menendez and Trinity Eldridge shined in Marketing Management (Team) by securing 1st place. Olivia Hayes clinched 2nd place in Apparel and Accessories Marketing, while Victoria Starkey earned 3rd place in Principles of Finance.

This victory is not just a matter of intellectual insight; it's the culmination of intensive preparation. For weeks, these students have diligently worked on mastering content knowledge through 100-question tests, honing their skills in role-play scenarios, and crafting extensive papers on community service activities.

The success at the state level has opened doors for further achievements. Sierra Menendez, Trinity Eldridge, and Olivia Hayes are set to advance to the international stage as they represent West Virginia in the DECA International Career Development Conference this April in Anaheim, California.

Lincoln High School takes immense pride in these students' dedication and the honor they bring to their school. The community looks forward to supporting these young professionals as they continue to excel and prepare for the next step in their DECA journey.
