CLARKSBURG – Harrison County Schools has announced the county-winners of the 2024 WV Young Writers Contest. The competition, which spans grades 1 through 12, has highlighted a group of students who have excelled in showcasing their literary skills.
Winners include:
Grades 1-2: Avery Stanton from St. Mary’s Grade School, guided by teacher Christine Monell.
Grades 3-4: Ian Stemple from Johnson Elementary School, taught by Marylou Smith.
Grades 5-6: Gabby Perlera, also from Johnson Elementary School, under Marylou Smith’s mentorship.
Grades 7-8: Lucas Messenger from South Harrison Middle School, with Sarah Totten as the guiding teacher.
Grades 9-10: Katherine Blackwood from Bridgeport High School, taught by Amy Lohmann.
Grades 11-12: Gretchen Ude from Bridgeport High School, also instructed by Amy Lohmann.
The Board is set to honor these gifted young writers at their upcoming meeting on Tuesday, April 16th.
