Washington Irving Middle School students will see a new face walking around the halls this Spring as Mr. Kenneth Edwards takes over as Assistant Principal.

A native of Bridgeport, WV, Mr. Edwards graduated from Bridgeport High School and received undergraduate degrees in Secondary Education - Social Studies in 2013 and Educational Leadership in 2021. He graduated with a Master's of Education - Secondary Education and Curriculum and Instruction - Social Studies from West Virginia University in 2015.

Although just starting his career in administration, Mr. Edwards is no stranger to WI and the secondary school environment.

"I got my first job in 2014, teaching 7th grade Social Studies at W.I. Middle School," said Edwards. "In 2015, I moved to Bridgeport Middle School, where I taught Eighth Grade (8th) Grade West Virginia Studies, and in 2019 I was able to move over to Bridgeport High School, where I taught a variety of  Social Studies classes such as American History, Geography, Civics, and AP US History."

The outdoors type, Mr. Edwards enjoys attending sporting events, hunting, fly fishing, woodworking, and reading any time of history that he can get his hands on. He spends his free time with his wife, Hannah, their son, Owen, and dog, Blue.

Welcome, Mr. Edwards!
