Mission, Vision, and Core Beliefs

Get Involved

Participating in school activities helps students develop interests, time management and social and emotional skills, provide a sense of belonging, can improve mental health, and form positive connections with peers and adults. We try to keep this list up to date, but sometimes we may add or drop programs for a variety of reasons. Please check with the school for the most current information.

Academics & Specialized Programming

  • Title I services provide reading and math interventions and host family engagement events like Bingo for Books and March Math-ness.

  • Teachers use an additional math screener to assess readiness beyond county requirements.

  • STEAM lessons are delivered weekly to all K–2 classrooms by planning teachers.

  • Full rotation of specials classes including Computer, Art, Music, PE, and Library.

Unique Learning Experiences

  • STEAM Mural Project: Second grade students collaborated with local artist Bernie Wilkes to create a mural, now featured in the school’s Secret Garden.

  • Wetlands & Walking Trail behind the school provide opportunities for nature exploration.

  • Annual schoolwide events:

    • Mad Scientist Day (October)

    • Christmas Around the World – students rotate through classrooms learning about global holiday traditions.

Community & Partnerships

Active collaborations with:

  • Nutter Fort Fire Department (fire safety programming and Pre-K field trips)

  • Clarksburg Lions Club (weekly second grade reading, flag presentations, LSIC involvement)

  • WVU & Fairmont State – frequent student teachers and observers

  • Robinson Grand, Alley 304, Bridge Theatre – host Celebration of Learning events

  • Local Parks & Recreation for field day usage

  • YMCA after-school program

  • PTSO-led events include:
