MMS 8th grader, Breanna Cutright, recently secured a position as a RAZE ambassador for the state of WV for the 22-23 school year. Her accomplishments from the organization of our school wide events were the key to her receiving such a distinction at the state level.
During the 2022-23 school year, Breanna will be working with other ambassadors throughout the state to plan and organize statewide events for all the local RAZE crews in WV.
Congratulations Breanna on this great honor!!
Braydon Hendricks and Shyanne Rathbun were both recently recognized as Golden Horseshoe Winners for Harrison County for the 2021-22 school year. Mountaineer Middle School kicked off our day with the RAZE Games that were created by our 8th grade RAZE Crew. These students have been planning this activity for almost a month and were able to implement this with our 6th graders today. While being fun and winning prizes, students also learned about the harmful effects of tobacco usage, whether cigarettes, snuff, or vapes, on their health and their bank account.
The RAZE Crew will continue tomorrow with our 7th grade and on Thursday with our 8th grade. We are so proud of the initiative of our 8th Grade RAZE Crew. Those students are Breanna Cutright, Kaylee White, Lael Ketelsen, Madison Hollar, and Madelyn Monroe.
Mrs. Shuttleworth's Science classes have been working this week on trying to save the penguins. Except these penguins are made of ice. Students were assigned the task of creating an 'igloo' from a designated list of items that would keep their penguin from melting under extreme heat. Students could only purchase materials from the list for up to 100 'Shuttlebucks'. Several teams did a great job of keeping their penguin from melting entirely. This was a great STEM activity for our 7th graders.
