Chairperson Toby Knight called meeting to order at 3:18 PM

 

1.         Principal Report:

a.         Merge update:

                                                                                             i.         Summary from the combined LHS/RBC staff meeting and the placing of staff at RCB.

                                                                                           ii.          Impacts of transitioning student to 7 period schedule vs 4 block schedule.

Schedule at RCB will be 90 minutes, 45 min, 45 min, 45 min, 45 min, 90 minutes block. Students will still earn 8 credits.

b.         Attendance:

                                                                                             i.          Is/Did the exam policy having any impact on attendance?  Attendance is still an issue. 

                                                                                           ii.         Impact of Cancelled/Snow Days Calendar was adjusted. Feb 17 is now an instructional day. Grading period was extended to Feb 27.

c.         Discipline Report:

Minor issues.

 

2.         Student Activities

a.         SAT prep courses- Khan Academy – Will have at least one practice run.

b.         SAT test dates- April 2, 2025

f.            Harrison County Schools is partnering with Pierpont Aviation Maintenance Programs to introduce students to careers in aviation. This year, Pierpont Aviation is visiting all six high schools and five middle schools in the county to talk to 11th and 12th-grade students and 8th-grade students about aviation jobs available right here in Harrison County.

 

3.         Athletic Updates:

a.         Status of Gym Floor - Useable

b.         Winter Sports Senior Night Feb 11 Girl and Boys is Feb 18-

National Guard for Girls is Feb 10

c.         Spring Sports

                                                                                             i.         What sports will be provided will softball, tennis (girls and boys),track possibly a JV baseball team.

4.         Academic Updates:

a.         Science Fair- Wyatt Miller won at the county level.

b.         All-State band-Wes Cutright made All-State Band.

c.         National Honor Society-12 students were inducted.

d.         Academic Team went to Morgantown and Feb 6 at Fairmont State

 

5.         Community/Service projects:

a.         Update from the FAA Winter FFA Contest- Coming up in Spring. FFA is selling strawberries.

b.         Update from Adamston Lion’s Club Jingle Gifts- All students present at school that day received a jingle gift.

 

6.         Future Activities:

a.         Graduation

Awards May 16 during the day, Graduation is May 22.

b.         Prom- May 3 at the Morris- 7-9:30- Theme “Simply Unforgettable”
