Parents,

We are all cooped up together.  It is easy to get on each others nerves, but we are the adults.  It is up to us to model for our children how to handle stress in a good way.

Ways for adults to calm down include, but are not limited to the following:

Timing yourself out in your bedroom.

Taking deep breaths.

Listening to music.

Counting to 10, or to 100, if you need to.

Talking to someone.

Walking.

Hitting a pillow.

You can also make a calm down corner for your child with pillows, blankets (maybe make a fort), books, etc. so they will have a place to go to settle down. We have these at school, and they do work.  Take care!

**Attention parents/guardians,

The Harrison County Advocacy Center will be providing free online safety lessons on the following topics:  Car Safety, Bus Safety, Gun Safety, Trusted Adults, Internet Safety, and Body Safety.

These lessons are for students in grades K through 3rd.

Log into Facebook and search for the Harrison County Child Advocacy Center's Facebook Page, and press like.  Then you may watch the lessons live each day at noon.

This School Counselor uses various resources to not only  present our students with the lessons, but to include them as part of the lessons in order for learning to impact them, and  to help them to remember what the have learned.

These resources include:  Books, Interactive DVDs, "SMART" Interactive Guidance, Role play, Plays, Puppets and other props.

Alert...Alert!  Some of our students have confessed to staying up too late!  Some are sneaking to play video games.  Others do not have a set bedtime.  They are coming to school sleepy, and not focused.  Please help by setting a bedtime, and sticking to it as best you can.  Thank you!
