School Overview

Participating in school activities helps students develop interests, time management and social and emotional skills, provide a sense of belonging, can improve mental health, and form positive connections with peers and adults. We try to keep this list up to date, but sometimes we may add or drop programs for a variety of reasons. Please check with the school for the most current information.

Academic Programs & Instruction

  • Offers middle school Agriculture and Explore WV classes through shared high school CTE instructors.

  • Opportunities exist to offer future high school credit CTE courses.

Learning & Enrichment

  • Students attended All-State Chorus and participated in the Regional Social Studies Fair.

  • School-wide social studies fair held this year for the first time in years.

  • Teacher-led efforts to coordinate environmental clean-up days with local agencies (dependent on grant funding).

Community & College Partnerships

  • Field trips to Glenville State and WVU provide early college exposure.

  • Collaboration with:

    • Environmental agencies for school clean-up projects

    • Local humane society and Lions Club for service drives

    • Adopt-a-Hawk Program providing holiday support to students

Clubs, Athletics, & Student Involvement

  • Student Council with elected members.

  • “Words of Wisdom” student-led announcements.

  • Leadership roles within athletics and classrooms.

  • Recognition through:

    • iReady Growth Celebrations (mid-year and year-end)

    • Certificates, games, and 9-week reward events

Community & Family Engagement

  • Parents support athletics and events but academic-focused engagement remains a challenge.

  • Booster group in its second year; most active members are parents of multi-sport athletes.

Traditions & Events

Participates in:

  • Lost Creek Fall Festival Parade

  • Powder Puff Football, Homecoming Parade (in partnership with South Harrison High School)

Facilities & Unique Features

  • Part of a K–12 campus in a rural area near Clarksburg

  • Shared spaces: athletic fields (high school) and playgrounds (elementary)

  • Nature trail behind the school used for STEM and science lessons
