ELA: Nonfiction - a genre based on real events; books that are based on actual events or real people. A history textbook is an example of a nonfiction book.
Math: Product - the result you get after multiplying numbers together. In the problem 3x4, 12 is the product. It is the final answer.
ELA: Subject - the person, place, or thing that a sentence is about, essentially the noun or pronoun performing the action in a sentence.
· In the sentence, "The dog barked" - dog is the subject.
Math: Division - the mathematical process of taking a whole item or a set of items and splitting, or dividing, them into equal groups.
· Example: 8 divided by 2 means 8 shared into 2 equal groups, where the answer is 4.
Math Word: Decimal - a way of writing a number that is not whole. Decimals are often described as "in-between numbers."
· Example: 10.5 has a decimal. It is in-between 10 and 11.
ELA Word: Verb - a word that describes a physical action or a state of being. Every sentence contains a verb.
· Examples of nouns: Swim, run, talk, exercise.
· Example: In the sentence "Mrs. Gregory reads the daily weather report", 'reads' is the verb.
