LSIC Meeting
January 6, 2025
Call meeting to order – Mrs. Meighan Jones called the meeting to order at 3:05.
Roll Call – Meighan Jones, Shelby Swiger, Jennifer Barton, & Kim Cunningham, & Koty Shingleton were in attendance.
Reading & Approval of Minutes – Meighan Jones read the minutes from the previous meeting & Kim Cunningham made a motion to dismiss the minutes. Jennifer Barton seconded the motion.
Principal’s Report – Meighan Jones shared that our school has a 95.069% average attendance. We have 17.069% chronically absent (about 36 students). The school has held 7 truancy meetings, and the principal has made 41 three-day absence calls, and 10 five-day calls. On April 11th we will have a furball dance hosted by the PTA & all the proceeds will go to the Harrison County Human Society.
General updates – We will have our annual Valentine’s Day party on Feb. 14th. PreK registration will be happening in March. On March 18th we are having an assembly where somebody will be bringing birds (eagles, falcons, etc.) and teaching students about them. We are getting a paved path in the preschool playground for students in wheelchairs. We will be asking for a paved area on the top playground for the basketball hoop.
Officer/Committee Reports – Kim Cunningham shared that the rule for unvaccinated children attending school has changed & will now be taking affect in West Virginia.
