LSIC Meeting
September 26, 2024
Mrs. Meighan Jones called the meeting to order. She stated that we will be following the ABC Model for the 4 meetings this year – Attendance, Behavior, Curriculum. First meeting will cover Curriculum.
Mrs. Jones indicated a need to nominate members for rolls this year.
Shelby Swiger made a motion to nominate Michelle Kiser as Chair. Jennifer Barton seconded the nomination. All those were in favor. All ayes.
Melanie Gentilozzi made a motion to nominate Jennifer Barton as Vice Chair. Shelby Swiger seconded the motion. All those in favor. All ayes
Meighan Jones made a motion to nominate Shelby Swiger as secretary. Jennifer Barton seconded the motion. All those in favor. All ayes.

Shelby Swiger made a motion to dismiss the reading of the minutes. Melanie Gentilozzi seconded the motion.
Mrs. Jones stated that we will now enter the principal’s report. Are there any questions concerning the principal’s report.

Curriculum –
Reading: Wonders
Phonics: Heggerty, UFLI
Math: New curriculum adoption this year REVEAL Math from McGraw Hill
Beginning of the year (BOY) benchmarks were completed on iReady.
Highlights –
3rd grade reading was the highest – 41% proficiency
5th grade reading 31% reading proficiency, 36% math proficiency
We are working to fill in the learning gaps!
Goals >
hire an interventionist to help with 4-5 math
an extra support position is focusing on intermediate math & science
Morning skills lab for each grade will be beginning
Knowledge Quest for intermediate will begin soon
PBIS program has been revamped & students will now shop in a new store in the basement. They will be able to go into the store & pick out prizes.
PTA is up & running! We will be beginning a fall fundraiser. Each class is painting a pumpkin students can bring in money to vote. The winning class will receive a slushie party.
Facility updates are coming!
We got a new intercom system in the front of the school. Ms. Rose the secretary will soon be able to talk to families without allowing them into the building. They will be putting in a banker window to communicate & pass papers through. Mrs. Jones principal office also got buttons installed that will immediately notify the building of codes and emergencies.
The new swings are in! We received another grant & will hopefully be getting a new wheelchair accessible swing.
We have new wall pads for the gymnasium that will be installed soon.
Chair stated that we will now move on to committee reports and discussions. Chair stated that it has been moved and seconded that there are no committee reports. Are there any discussions at this time?
Melanie Gentilozzi stated there are no discussions at this time.

Meighan Jones stated that the next meeting will be on December 5, 2024.
Michelle Kiser asked if she can have a motion to adjourn the meeting. Meighan Jones made a motion. Shelby Swiger seconded the motion.
