Get Involved

Participating in school activities helps students develop interests, time management and social and emotional skills, provide a sense of belonging, can improve mental health, and form positive connections with peers and adults. We try to keep this list up to date, but sometimes we may add or drop programs for a variety of reasons. Please check with the school for the most current information.

Academics & Learning Opportunities

  • Departmentalized instruction in 4th and 5th grades with subject-specific teachers.

  • Strings program available for 5th-grade students.

  • Shared campus benefits with Bridgeport High School, including:

    • Field usage, auditorium access, Project RED (agriculture), and Teacher Cadets program.

  • Unique learning experiences include:

    • Project-based learning, shirt painting (5th grade), and visits from WVU Extension.

    • Career Day with local professionals and a city trolley tour to government sites.

Community & Partnerships

  • Collaborates with:

    • Rewards in classrooms, lunch with the principal, and special nine-week events (plays, dances, bowling).

  • Celebrations shared on Facebook to recognize individual and group achievements.

Family Engagement

  • Home to the largest PTA in West Virginia.

  • Trunk or Treat, Fall Color Run, and annual fundraisers strengthen family ties.

  • Goal of two parent involvement activities per grade level each semester.

School Traditions

    • Halloween Parade, Trunk or Treat, Water Day, Field Day, and Walk to School Day.

  • Also hosts practices/events for Bridgeport Youth Football and Bridgeport Little League.
